'Family-Owned' Technically Accurate Since Acquisition By Family Office
Current owners are a family in the sense that they are related to one another; legal has signed off.
Defending the continued use of the phrase across its labels, website, and tasting room script, Wexford Lane Vineyards confirmed Monday that its family-owned designation remains technically accurate following its acquisition by a family office, sources reported. “We’ve always been family-owned and that hasn’t changed,” said president Alan Doverly, referring to a Connecticut investment vehicle managing the assets of a family he has met once. “The values are the same. The commitment is the same.” Doverly confirmed the winery’s founding family departed in 2019, that the current owners are a family in the sense that they are related to one another, and that legal had signed off.
