Winery Debuts Immersive Experience Where You Sit Down For 90 Minutes
No walking portion.
Positioning the offering as a deliberate departure from the conventional estate tour, a Yountville winery launched an immersive 90-minute experience Friday in which guests sit down, sources reported.
The experience, called The Long Table, is $150 per person and requires a reservation 14 days out. There is no walking portion.
“We don’t make you look at a press. We don’t march you up a hill in a dress shoe to see a block of Cabernet you are never going to think about again. You get to just sit,” said experience director Marisol Deene, adding that staff are trained to read guest fatigue and intervene before it affects the visit. “If somebody comes in looking a little fried from their tasting day — and by four o’clock, they all are — we’ll put on an episode of Ted Lasso. It calms them right down. It’s like Bluey, but for elder millennials.”
Wine is served throughout, though Deene said guests rarely finish it. The winery reports that 40 percent of participants book a second session the same day.
At press time, the winery was developing a three-hour version in which guests lie down.
