Punchdown Performed Entirely For Photographer

Winemaker changes into clean flannel, holds plunger motionless for eleven seconds.

Climbing the catwalk in a clean flannel he had changed into moments earlier, winemaker Stefan Krail performed a vigorous and entirely unnecessary punchdown Thursday for the benefit of a photographer standing eight feet away, sources confirmed. “Yeah, we’re just doing our thing, this is a normal Thursday for us,” said Krail, who had already punched the tank down that morning and would gently punch it down again from a slightly different angle once the light shifted. “Can you get one where I’m not looking at you? Like I’m concentrating?” Krail then held the plunger motionless above the cap for eleven seconds while the shutter fired. At press time, he was rolling a barrel he had no intention of moving.
